FAQS FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
WHAT’S INVOLVED IN THE TREE REMOVAL PROCESS?
During the process, licensed tree removal technicians from a company such as Omaha Tree Services use special tools to cut the tree into a series of sections from the top to the bottom. This might be less exciting than a single giant chop at the base of the tree, but much safer. You never know where that tree will land!
DO I NEED A PERMIT TO REMOVE A TREE?
Maybe. Some municipalities in the area do require a permit for removing trees. It often depends on the size and the location of the tree, whether the tree is a hazard, whether it is a street tree, an invasive species, etc. The arborists at Omaha Tree Services can help you determine whether permits apply and assist you in obtaining them.
DO I HAVE TO BE HOME FOR THE REMOVAL PROCESS?
No. As long as you can provide the contractors with access to the property, you do not need to be home for the process.
HOW MUCH WILL THE SERVICE COST?
The price of tree removal depends on a number of factors. The height of the tree plays a big role. The diameter matters, too. Other considerations include the condition of the tree, how easily accessible it is, what you’d like done with the trunk and branches after removal, and whether or not you want stump grinding. You might also have to pay for the mileage and drive time. The removal process can cost anywhere from a few hundred dollars to a few thousand. Make no mistake: this work is complex, time-consuming, and dangerous.
IS IT OK TO REMOVE TREES CLOSE TO THE HOUSE?
A towering tree close to your house can provide important shade and shelter, along with impressive beauty and drama. Sometimes, though, that nearby tree can pose a serious threat. Growing branches can scratch and bang up the siding or roof of the house. A buildup of leaves and sticks on the roof can contribute to rotting. The roots of a large tree can destroy the foundation of your home, causing cracking and other issues.
A tree near the house might require more careful planning and work to remove, but it can be done safely by a reputable tree service company.
WHY SHOULD I PRUNE MY TREES?
Trees need to be pruned for a number of reasons including safety, aesthetics, and tree health. Broken or dead branches can be dangerous if they fall – oftentimes without warning, even on a calm day! If a tree’s branches grow too big for the tree or are too close to your roof or chimney, they need to be pruned and cleared to prevent them from damaging your home. From an aesthetic perspective, pruning can help make a tree look better or provide you with a better view of your property or horizon. If you are thinking about pruning a tree, be sure to use a Certified Arborist. Unskilled and uneducated workers can damage your trees and property.
WHAT IS A CERTIFIED ARBORIST?
A Certified Arborist has a broad base of knowledge about tree and woody plant care, pesticides, planting safety, and related technical matters. In order to become a Certified Arborist in Nebraska, one must pass a difficult and lengthy exam administered by the Nebraska Arborists Association. The International Society of Arboriculture offers a similarly difficult exam in the United States and abroad. At Omaha Tree Services, we employ many Certified Arborists as part of our commitment to industry expertise and standards. Insist on hiring tree and plant health care companies with these certifications when you are seeking expert services.
